Intent
At Sir Francis Hill, we have created a Performing Arts curriculum which allows children to be creative and expressive, where they are encouraged to share and celebrate their talents through performance. We recognise the many transferable skills that involvement in the arts embeds, and as a school, we seek to provide children with the confidence and ability to apply these as they grow.
Implementation
The curriculum will provide not only opportunities to perform both individually and collaboratively, but children will have the opportunity to listen, watch and respond to performances from their peers and professionals. Music, dance and drama will be taught discretely, with children building on their technique and skills systematically. The arts naturally allows for creativity so children will be given the flexibility and freedom to devise and improvise, as well as following a set piece.
There are a number of extra-curricular opportunities for children to take part in, including:
- Dance
- Choir
- Young Voices
- Rock Challenge
- LAMDA
- and many more!
Impact
All children are encouraged to learn new skills and to involve and immerse themselves across all disciplines. We aim to inspire and engage children to help them develop that love for the arts which gives them a sense of individuality, freedom and the confidence to express themselves.
