Year 6
Year 6
Dear Year 6 Community,
As the school is now opening to the Year 6 children, some of you might still be staying at home and carrying on with your home learning. We really don't want you to miss out on the work done at school by those returning. So we will update the website weekly with the lessons that we are doing in class for you to follow and try to do at home. These may be Powerpoints for you to look at (that we did in class teaching), they could be PDFs for you to read and do work on, some music for you to learn, or it could be research you may need to do for a particular topic. This should give you all the same information of work we are covering in class. We will also add a video each week as a guide, so you know what lessons we are doing in school and it will give you a rough idea on what to do.
Padlets
We think the best way for Home Learners showing us your work is by using a Padlet (you should be now well practiced in using it). We will set up everyone with their own Padlet and will e-mail you individually with your own Padlet. This can be used, just like before, by adding writing, photos, videos or any other work that you do, onto your own individual Padlet and then only Y6 teachers and yourself will be able to view it and add to it. We hope that this will add more individuality to your learning.
Please remember you (and it doesn't have to be an adult, you can as a child) can still contact any of us in year 6 by using the Teacher Contact facility shown on the Year 6 screen below.
With thanks
Year 6 team

Year 6 Teachers Contact Form
If you are wanting to contact a specific teacher within the year group, please make this clear in your message - e.g. For the attention of Mr Smith.
Please click on any of the links below to see what we are learning in each topic.
Maths
Children will continue to develop their times tables and use these for a range of mathematical concepts: fractions, ratio and area. They will also look at strategies for division and improve their understanding of decimals and percentages.
Literacy
A large proportion of this term will be focused on grammatical aspects – looking at vocabulary, grammatical terminology, spelling and punctuation. Alongside this pupils will write a biography, a letter and a playscript linked with the topic work. They will also cover narrative and poetry.
