PSHCE
Intent
At Sir Francis Hill our whole school approach to PSHE and RSE develops the qualities that children will need to manage opportunities, challenges and responsibilities as they grow up, enabling them to thrive as individuals, as family members and as members of society.
Implementation
The core themes of our PSHE programme of study focuses on Health and Wellbeing, Relationships and Living in the Wider World
The objectives of PSHE are to enable the children to:
- know what healthy lifestyle is and understand how to live a healthy lifestyle
- be aware of safety issues
- understand what defines and makes good relationships with others
- have respect for others
- be responsible members of the school community
- actively promote British Values and a wider understanding of our society
- understand what is meant by Democracy and be positive and active members of a democratic society
- develop self-confidence and self-esteem, to allow informed choices regarding personal and social issues
- develop good relationships with other members of the community
Impact
By teaching pupils to stay safe and healthy, and by building self-esteem, resilience and empathy, our PSHE curriculum enables staff to tackle barriers to learning and raise aspirations for our pupils.
During their time at SFH children will develop their understanding that at school and in the wider community
- We take turns to speak
- We use kind and positive words
- We listen to each other in a supportive manner
- We have the right to comment thoughtfully or to choose not comment
- We respect each other’s privacy (confidentiality)
