SFH Nursery

Sir Francis Hill Nursery

At Sir Francis Hill Primary School our Early Years includes a large and welcoming Nursery setting. The Nursery has its own dedicated space which was built in 2016 and includes a large classroom space, outdoor covered play space and woodland area. All our classroom and outdoor areas have a range of play  activities designed to offer a fun, safe and stimulating environment for children aged 3-4 years old. After Nursery your child will then move on to our Early Years Reception Unit during the school year they turn 5 years old and start school full-time. Places for our Reception classes are applied for via Lincolnshire County Council but when it is time to apply our staff will support parents / carers with that process.

Nursery Session Options

We offer parents / carers several different childcare options using their 15- or 30-hours funding entitlement (proof of funding is required). Children can attend every morning, every afternoon, for two and a half days or 30-hours (subject to meeting the funding criteria). Additional hours can be paid for. We work hard to be as flexible as possible within the limits and capacity of our nursery and we will do our best to meet the requests of individual families, but this cannot be guaranteed. If your session requirements are not available immediately, we will add your request to our waiting list. We encourage parents to consider either all morning or all afternoon session for 15-hours funding (option 1 or 2) or full-time if you receive 30-hours funding (option 5) in order to build continuity for your child and be able to work on all areas of the Early Years curriculum.

Admissions Information (Nursery – Intake)

Sir Francis Hill Primary School acts as the administration for Sir Francis Hill Nursery and will allocate places for term time sessions.

Fees & Early Years Entitlement

Since September 2017, 30-hours free childcare has been available to eligible working families of 3 and 4 year olds. This is an additional 15-hours on top of the 15-hours available to all parents of three and four year olds and can be accessed by registering on www.childcarechoices.gov.uk to receive an 11-digit eligibility code.

Nursery Admissions – How are children prioritised?

If our nursery is ever over subscripted, we follow the following list of criteria to distinguish the priority that places with be allocated –

  1. Looked after children and previously looked after children (A child who is or has been in care of a local authority).
  2. Children with a sibling attending the school at the time of the application, or who will be attending the school at the expected time of admission.
  3. Children for whom this school is the nearest school to their home address.
  4. Distance of the home address to the school. Places will be allocated to those living nearest the school first (measured by straight line distance).

Please be aware that admission to Sir Francis Hill Nursery does not guarantee your child a place at Sir Francis Hill Primary School when they are eligible to start in our Reception Class. Places for Reception need to be applied for via Lincolnshire County Council online at www.lincolnshire.gov.uk/schooladmissions.
