Year 2

Dear Year  2 Community,

As school has now closed, we want to assure you that Year 2 staff will continue to be available (through email) for you during normal school working hours, to assist with any home learning issues you may have. Please remember that you can contact any of us using the Teacher Contact Facility shown on the year 2 screen just below.

We have already sent home learning packs to get you and your children started, and will be adding suggested work ideas using this page regularly.

As an addition to these activities we have added links for Maths, English (just click the link below) and also please make use of all our online learning platforms (Sumdog, Numbots, Spelling Shed and Abacus maths). If you have misplaced your child’s login for any of these sites or have difficulty accessing them, again please contact us using the Teacher Contact Facility.

This is new territory for all of us, but we shall try to support you and your child as much as we can so the disruption to their education is minimised. We cannot stress the importance of staying in touch with each other (friends) through any means possible, as this is so important to your children’s well being.

Keep safe and well

With Thanks

Year 2 team

Year 2 Teachers Contact Form

If you are wanting to contact a specific teacher within the year group, please make this clear in your message - e.g. For the attention of Mr Smith.

Please click on any of the links below to see what we are learning in each topic.

Literacy

The children will take part in a number of different Literacy sessions. They do Reading Workshop sessions as well as phonics following the Read Write Inc programme. The children will also be starting 'Active English' to help them with their grammar.

The children will be taught a variety of text types during the Summer term, including; narrative, non-chronological reports and adverts. They will also continue to develop skills in punctuation and be supported in developing sentence structure.

Numeracy

Throughout the year the children will be covering various aspects of numeracy, starting with place value and working through calculations, statistics, measure and shape. The children will take part in a range of activities to enhance their mathematical knowledge and skill.

We encourage the Year 2 children to learn their times tables and number bonds, using 'Active Maths' to support this learning in school. Any extra support at home is greatly appreciated.
