Reception Daily Routines

This is the daily routine of Reception at Sir Francis Hill Primary School, but every day can be different and exciting.

8.50am – 9.10am *School gates open 8.45am* *School starts 9.00am*	20 mins	School Gate Opens / Morning Activities Parents/Carers walk their child to the drop off point at the classroom door and are met by a member of staff Parents / Carer say goodbye and leave via the school gates Children then independently carry their book bag and water bottle into school. Children complete the class self-register Children start to complete the morning activities in the classroom
9.10am – 9.20am	10 mins	Welcome Time Welcome song / Register / Lunch register / Date & Weather / Visual Timetable
9.20am – 10.00am increases over the year	40 mins	Focus Time Input – Phonics (RWI) Whole group focused input – Phonics Phonics groups, small group adult led learning Brain Break - Physical Challenge / Yoga / Breathing / Water break
10.00am – 10.15am	15 mins	Focus Time Input – Maths Whole group focused input – Maths
10.15am – 11.15am	1 hour	Child Initiated Learning Groups of children join adults for focus activities – Maths / English / PE Children access the continuous provision in all areas supported by adults Snack Area open Tidy Time (if needed)
11.15am - 11.20am	5 mins	Quick Tidy Time Children tidy all areas of the classroom and outside area (supported by adults)
11.20am – 11.45am	25 mins	Learning Review Time / Story Time Learning Review Time / SeeSaw Review Additional RWI Phonics Session Recap Phonics Interventions Story time Toilet / Hands washed / Adult walk children to the Hall
11.45am – 1.00pm	1 hour 15 mins	Lunch Time / Playtime Children start to eat in the hall (Packed lunch or hot school meal) Playtime on the main school playground
1.00pm – 1.05pm	5 mins	Register Time Register / Visual Timetable After lunch discussion time / Yoga / Mindfulness / Breathing
1.05pm – 1.20pm	15 mins	Focus Time Input – Letter Formation Whole group focused input – Gross & Fine Motor Skills / Letter Formation
1.20pm – 1.30pm	10 mins	Drawing Club Input Whole group focused input – Drawing Club
1.30pm – 2.30pm	1 hour	Child Initiated Learning Groups of children join adults for focus activities – Maths / English / Topic Children access the continuous provision in all areas supported by adults Snack Area open
2.30pm - 2.40pm	10 mins	Big Tidy Time Children tidy all areas of the classroom and outside area (supported by adults)
2.40pm - 3.00pm	20 mins	Focus Time Input Whole group focused input – PSHE / Music / Picture News / Assembly
3.00pm – 3.25pm *School gates open 3.15pm*	25 mins	Story Time / Home Time Whole class story time and book Chat Prepare for home time Parents / Carers collect children from the classroom doors

Reception Snack Time

The children have access to the Snack Area during Child Initiated Learning time. Snack available includes: -

Fresh milk / Water
Selection of fruit and vegetable
Celebration / topic related foods (e.g. Pancakes / Christmas cake)

Nursery Daily Routines

This is the daily routine of Nursery at Sir Francis Hill Primary School, but every day can be different and exciting.

9.10am – 9.30am	20 mins	Adult Directed Group Activity Split into two groups / Adult directed activity – Phonics or Maths
9.30am – 9.40am	10 mins	Whole Group Focus Input Focus input to the whole group linked to topic work or focus activity that is available to the children during Child Initiated Learning Adult Focus Discussion with the children – Let’s Plan Together
9.40am – 11.10am	1 hour 30 mins	Child Initiated Learning Groups of children join adults for focus activities inside and outside – Topic Work Children access the continuous provision in all areas supported by adults Children access the snack area
11.10am – 11.20am	10 mins	Tidy Time Children tidy all areas of the classroom and outside area (supported by adults)
11.20am – 11.30am	10 mins	Daily Phonics Time Whole Class RWI phoneme session
11.30am – 11.40am	10 mins	Group Story Time Group story time children split into two groups (Full day and morning children)
Morning Children 11.40am – 12.00pm	20 mins	Focus Activity / Morning Children Home Time Group Activity – Fine motor skills / Singing Parents / Carers collect children from the classroom door
Full Day Children 11.40am – 11.45am	5 mins	Lunchtime Preparation Time Toilet / Hands washed / Adult walk children to the Hall
Full Day Children 11.45am – 12.20pm	35 mins	Lunch Time Children start to eat in the hall (Packed lunch or hot school meal)
Full Day Children 12.20m – 12.45pm	25 mins	Playtime Playtime outside in the Nursery outdoor area / Tidy Up Time
Afternoon Children 12.30pm – 12.50pm *School gates open 12.25pm* *School starts 12.30pm*	20 mins	School Gate Opens / AFTERNOON SESSION STARTS Parents / Carers support their child to enter Nursery and say goodbye and leave via the school gates Children complete the class self-register Children play in the Nursery outdoor area / Tidy Up Time
