Reception Daily Routine
This is a daily timetable of Reception at Sir Francis Hill, however each day is exciting and can be different.

The school day begins at 9:00 | 15 mins | School Gate Opens 8:45 • Parents/Carers say goodbye to their child at the door and the class enters the school with their class teacher • Children complete morning activity in the classroom |
9:05am – 9:15am | 10 mins | Welcome Time • Welcome, register, date, news and discussions |
9:15am – 10:15am | 15-60 mins | Phonics Time This time will alter over the course of the year. |
10:15am – 10:30am | 30 mins | EYFS Playtime • Playtime in Reception area. After the Autumn term, the children will play on the school playground. • Snacktime - this will be available all morning |
10:30am - 11:35am | 1 hour 5 mins | Child Initiated Learning / Focus Time • Maths, English or Topic focused input • Groups of children join adults for focus activities • Access to snack in the classroom |
11:35am – 11:55am | 20 mins | Story & Review Time • Tidy time • Review Learning / Story / Singing • Lunch preparation |
11:55pm – 1:00pm | 1 hour 5 mins | Lunch Time • Packed lunch or hot school meals • Playtime in the playground |
1:00pm – 1:05pm | 5 mins | Register • Register • After lunch discussion time |
1:05pm – 2:00pm | 55 mins | Child Initiated Learning / Focus Time • Maths, English or Topic focused input • Groups of children join adults for focus activities |
2:00pm – 2:50pm | 50 mins | Child Initiated Learning/ Focus Time • Groups of children join adults for focus activities • Children access the continuous provision supported by adults |
2:50pm – 3:15pm | 25 mins | Story & Review Time • Tidy time • Review Learning / Story / Singing |
3:15pm - 3:25pm Gates open at 3:15pm | 10 mins | Home Time |
Snack Time
Snack is available for the children during the day this includes:
- Carton of fresh milk
- Water
- Selection of fruit and vegetables – carrots, apples, bananas, pears, oranges, raisins, etc.
Children can also bring a water bottle to keep in the classroom during the school day.
