Monday
Good Morning Nursery,
We hope you have had a good weekend and are feeling full of energy for the week ahead!
Today is the start of our longer topic "How High Can You Jump?"
Your Reading activity is to listen to the story Kicking a Ball by Alan Ahlberg. Listen to it a few times and look carefully at the illustrations too.
This is a rhyming book. Rhyming words are words that have the same sound at the end like hat, cat, bat, sat or pop, top, mop. Can you hear any words that sound the same as each other in the story?

Try singing or listening to these nursery rhymes:
Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star
Incy Wincy Spider
Hickory, Dickory Dock
Can you hear any words that nearly sound the same?
For our Maths activity today you will need a container like a bucket or a bin and some balls, or some scrunched up paper instead!
Aim carefully and see if you can throw the ball into the bucket. Keep going until you have used up all your balls.
How many balls went in your bucket? How many balls landed on the floor? Count them really carefully. Remember to use your counting finger and line them up just like we do in Nursery.
Did you get more balls in the bucket or out of the bucket?
Have another go, or get your grown up to have a turn!
Our last activity is Floating and Sinking.
https://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b0bc29rr/kit-pup-series-1-7-floating-and-sinking
In Nursery the children are using the water tray and different balls to explore floating and sinking but you can use the sink or even do this in the bath at bath-time!
Find some different objects from around your house and garden. Look at each one and tell your grown up if you think it will float or sink when you drop it in the water.
Then drop them in, one at a time...What happens? Were your guesses right?
Why do you think it floated or sank?
Have fun with these activities and don't forget to send us some pictures or comments on Tapestry to let us know how you get on with them. Remember to check our Galleries to see how your friends have been learning this week.
Have fun,
from Mrs Hempstead and the Nursery Team
