In Year One we use a flexible approach to homework, giving children the opportunity to choose the sorts of activities that they prefer to suit their preferred learning style.
A sheet will be given out to children at the beginning of each topic with a selection of different homework activities to choose from. These may be maths, literacy or topic based and allow children more choice in the sort of activities they are doing and allows them to produce the homework in any way they wish e.g. drawing, on the computer/i-pad, models, collage, writing etc.
Children then receive 2 house points for each piece of homework that they complete.
This has proved very successful during the first year and children have produced so much more than they had done in the previous way of giving out homework.
