Dear Parents 

 

We want to assure you that Year 4 staff will continue to be available (through email) for you during normal school working hours, to assist with any home learning issues you may have. Please remember that you can contact any of us using the Teacher Contact Facility shown on the year 4 screen just below.

 

We appreciate every home set-up will be different with some of you working from home but we want to now create more structure to the learning at home.  Therefore we will provide Maths, English, Science alongside some History and Geography.

 

As an addition to these activities please make use of all our online learning platforms (Sumdog, TT Rockstars, Numbots, Spelling Shed and Abacus maths). If you have misplaced your child’s login for any of these sites or have difficulty accessing them, again please contact us using the Teacher Contact Facility.

 

We cannot stress the importance of staying in touch with each other (friends) through any means possible, as this is so important to your children’s well being.

We look forward to seeing your child again in year 4, once this worrying time is over.

Active English

Due to the new National Curriculum's increased focus on grammar, we have introduced daily 'Active English' lessons to the class timetable. These lessons are proving very successful at boosting the children's understanding of sentence structure and word choices in order to accelerate their progression in Literacy. Active English lessons last roughly 20 minutes and give the children chance to critique text written by their teacher and respond with their own suggestions. This term we will recap the children's prior knowledge of grammar, particularly word types, and explore more detailed sentence structure.
