Reception Daily Routines

This is the daily routine of Reception at Sir Francis Hill Primary School, but every day can be different and exciting.

8.50am – 9.00am *School gates open 8.45am* *School starts 9.00am*	10 mins	School Gate Opens / Morning Activities Parents/Carers walk their child to the drop off point at the classroom door and are met by a member of staff Parents / Carer say goodbye and leave via the school gates Children then independently carry their book bag and water bottle into school. Children complete the class self-register Children start to complete the morning activities in the classroom

9.15am – 9.55am	40 mins	Focus Time Input – Phonics (RWI) Whole group focused input – Phonics Phonics groups, small group adult led learning
9.55am – 10.10am	15 mins	Snack and Chat Time Whole class snack time
10.10am – 10.30am	20 mins	Focus Time Input – English Whole group focused input – English Class activities independent and adult supported
10.30am – 11.00am	30 mins	Child Initiated Learning Snack time in classroom bases Enhanced Provision / Topic Activities Children access the continuous provision in all areas supported by adults
11.00am - 11.05am	5 mins	Quick Tidy Time Children tidy all areas of the classroom and outside area (supported by adults)
11.05am – 11.20am	15 mins	Communication and Language Time / Learning Review Time Group activity / Discussion - Communication and Language
11.20am – 11.40am	20 mins	Story Time Additional RWI Phonics Session Recap Phonics Interventions Story time Toilet / Hands washed / Adult walk children to the Hall
11.40am – 12.50pm	1 hour 10 mins	Lunch Time / Playtime Children start to eat in the hall (Packed lunch or hot school meal) Playtime in the Reception playground
12.50pm – 1.00pm	10 mins	Register Time Register / Visual Timetable After lunch discussion time / Yoga / Mindfulness / Breathing
1.00pm – 1.10pm	10 mins	Focus Time Input – Letter Formation Whole group focused input – Gross & Fine Motor Skills / Letter Formation
1.10pm – 1.40pm	30 mins	Focus Time Input – Maths Whole group focused input – Maths
1.40pm – 2.30pm	50 mins	Child Initiated Learning Groups of children join adults for focus activities – Maths / English / Topic Children access the continuous provision in all areas supported by adults Snack Area open
2.30pm - 2.40pm	10 mins	Big Tidy Time Children tidy all areas of the classroom and outside area (supported by adults)
2.40pm - 3.00pm	20 mins	Focus Time Input Whole group focused input – PSHE / RE / Music / Picture News / Assembly
3.00pm – 3.25pm *School gates open 3.15pm*	25 mins	Story Time / Home Time Whole class story time and book Chat Prepare for home time Parents / Carers collect children from the classroom doors

Reception Snack Time

Snack available includes: -

Fresh milk / Water
Selection of fruit and vegetable
Celebration / topic related foods (e.g. Pancakes / Christmas cake)

Nursery Daily Routines

This is the daily routine of Nursery at Sir Francis Hill Primary School, but every day can be different and exciting.

9.10am – 9.15am	5 mins	Focus Input Whole Class Focus Input (if needed)
9.15am – 10.10am	55 mins	Child Initiated Learning / Adult Led Learning Children in free-flow provision across indoor and outdoors. Adults split their time between adult directed and child-initiated activities.
10.10am – 10.30am	20 mins	Optional Snack Time Whole class snack time whilst provision continues (children supervised eating).
10.30am – 11.20am	50 mins	Child Initiated Learning / Adult Led Learning Children in free-flow provision across indoor and outdoors. Adults split their time between adult directed and child-initiated activities.
11.20am – 11.25am	5 mins	Tidy Time Children tidy all areas of the classroom and outside area (supported by adults)
11.25am – 11.35am	10 mins	Story Time Shared Storytime / Singing linked to learning
11.35am – 11.40am	5 mins	Lunch and Home Preparations Children get ready for lunch or home time
Morning Children 11.40am – 12.00pm	20 mins	Child Initiated Learning Focus play or game on the carpet / Singing / Outdoor game
Full Day Children 11.40am – 12.15pm	35 mins	Lunch Time Children start to eat in the hall (Packed lunch or hot school meal)
Full Day Children 12.15am – 1.00pm	45 mins	Playtime Playtime outside in the Nursery outdoor area / Tidy Up Time
Afternoon Children 12.30pm – 1.00pm *School gates open 12.25pm* *School starts 12.30pm*	30 mins	School Gate Opens / AFTERNOON SESSION STARTS Parents / Carers support their child to enter Nursery and say goodbye and leave via the school gates Children play in the Nursery outdoor area Tidy Up Time
